Babies Swimming
The benefits of baby swimming

Swimming provides perfect exercise at an early age allowing muscle movement without the constraints of gravity.

It helps to improve co-ordination, balance and agility.

It equips your baby with vital life-saving skills.

Regular exercise promotes baby’s appetite and sleep patterns.

The Baby Swim Foundation Programme.

We teach the Baby Swim Foundation Programme which was designed by Lisa Bousted of BEBE SWIMMING. This programme teaches a foundation of swimming skills to infants focusing on correct body positioning in the water, so that they can swim unaided as soon as they are physically ready.

The Baby Swim Foundation Programme has been specifically designed for babies enabling them to develop all the basic skills and reflexes that the body naturally has, whilst working towards actual swimming. The programme includes submersions which are an important part of learning to swim, but they are not the main focus of the lessons. All lessons are taught with an emphasis on fun, and we include plenty of songs, games and toys in the lessons.

Our Facilities

All lessons have exclusive use of the beautiful Chessgrove Pool which is heated to 32 degrees. The teachers all teach in the water and class sizes of 8 pairs of children and parents are strictly adhered to. Our luxurious changing facilities have spacious lockers, changing mats and shampoo are provided. Our water is UV filtered providing clean, clear water with a lower chlorine content than most public pools.

Swimming Nappies

To maintain our clear water, we ask that all babies wear a double nappy system to avoid nasty leaks – we sell Konfidence Napicovas for £6 each and require a disposable or washable nappy to be worn underneath these. An alternative to the Napicova is the Splash About Happy Nappy available from www.splashabout.net

The Nappicova and Happy Nappy have been specifically designed for programs like ours.  They are made from neoprene material and are snug around the thighs forming a tight seal, therefore reducing the risk of accidents happening in the pool.  Any passing of solids in the water may result in closure of the pool and lessons being cancelled that day.
